Why Start a Blog in 2023?

The answer is actually very simple: for fun!

I was an early internet user. I first came across blogs around 2007, back when Blogspot had not yet been blocked and Google still worked, on and off. I wrote a bunch of random stuff then. Later I lost the account and could never find it again, so that was that. Back then I just wrote whatever came to mind. Traffic? Followers? I did not even think in those terms. I was playing.

Before starting a blog again this time, though, I did think about it. What should I write about? How would I bring in traffic and gain followers? What language should the blog even use? I went back and forth over all of it.

Then one night, while lying in bed and worrying about the same questions again, it suddenly hit me: why bother?

Why not treat the blog, or the whole personal website, as a toy of my own? I can write whatever I want, in whatever language I feel like using. Just enjoy it.

So that is how I restarted my blog and personal website. The subjects will probably be all over the place. I hope some of it turns out to be interesting.

Oh, right. I nearly forgot one other important reason. I wanted a place of my own where I could publish freely. In 2023, that had become surprisingly difficult...
